I’m wondering how much we could shrink it down. Would you sacrifice a spare bedroom volume for never having to buy food in again?

Can’t find it now, but NASA has studied the volume required for self-sufficiency of one person. Think it was a cube 20m square? May be wrong

IIRC the all-natural traditional way needed about 3 acres and a house with a store cellar.

Right now I’m wondering how far you can shrink down the volume required to sustainably feed yourself completely.

My mum and dad were both pretty into the idea of self-sufficiency when I was growing up. It had an effect on me.
